Life of an academic is often two folded. On the one side, there is the

professional life and its day-to-day engagement. On the other side, lies the personal

life with its wonders, achievements and fulfilments. When the biggest questions of

life are asked, these two coalesce into one illuminating perspective.

The Last Lecture is an opportunity to engage the speakers with these

concepts and gives a platform to perform a lecture as if it would be one’s last. A

lecture where it is no longer only the subject matter that is at stake, but the very

core of one’s own existence and meaning derived thereof. The last lecture poses a

question ” what would you say, if it would be your last chance to talk to a body of

students?”  The answers that have been given have inspired, amazed and moved the

audience following the lectures.

The next Last Lecture will be in December, and it will be Herman De Regt,

professor of philosophy from Tilburg University, who will set himself in the stage

and ponder the fundamentals of life, in his version of The Last Lecture that carries

the title “Science and the Seven Wisdoms of Life”. We invite you to follow this

lecture; to listen what wisdom professor De Regt would impose to the world if it

would be his last chance to do so.

The lecture will be held 2nd of December 2010 in DZ1

We warmly welcome you to join us.

Best regards,

The Last Lecture Committee
